Kate + Dave: E.shoot

I was super excited for Kate and Dave’s engagement session for many reasons. The biggest was because Kate and Dave are all around great people. They have warm, welcoming personalities with a fun sense of style. I was even more excited when they told me they were staying at Grand View; which is one of my favorite locations on the planet to create. This year, I have been traveling more and more for weddings than any year. Kate and Dave’s engagement session was my first shoot on Grand View’s property for 2010. They completely rocked it out!

Megan + Chris: Spicer Wedding Photographer

I will scream it from the roof tops over and over again! “I LOVE couples that celebrate their own, unique personality!”

This year, I have photographed amazing couples that aren’t afraid of bending tradition a bit. Megan and Chris’s wedding day was filled with many firsts that I have never encountered after fourteen years of documenting weddings. The first time I have seen a couple serve their guests lemonade in the receiving line. The first time I have photographed a bride playing volleyball on her wedding day. The first series of photo signs giving directions.

Megan and Chris celebrated a morning ceremony followed by a relaxed reception with yard games by the lake. After all the guests congratulated the newlyweds, we went on a little photo adventure. Like much of August, sun turned to storms as the late afternoon approached. Megan and Chris were absolute troopers when the rain drops started to fly. The weather produced the most beautiful light and dramatic skies.

Megan and Chris’s wedding was a perfect day!

Lauren + Matt: Minneapolis and St. Paul Wedding

Lauren and Matt lucked out on one of the few beautiful days we have had in Minnesota this summer. They celebrated their ceremony at Our Lady of Victory Chapel on the campus of St. Kate’s followed by a reception at the Semple Mansion. Their day was filled with wonderful moments and gorgeous details.

Katrina + Louie: Ruttger’s Bay Lake Wedding

Katrina’s family has vacationed at Ruttger’s Bay Lake Lodge since she was very young. When I spoke with Katrina about her wedding and Ruttger’s, it was obvious why it is such an important place. Ruttger’s is a family resort that has its own unique style in a relaxed and comfortable setting. It is a place memories are made. When I walked through the resort with Katrina and her parents before the wedding, I heard stories about fishing, bingo and many other great moments. I couldn’t imagine a better place to celebrate a wedding and create more family memories.

Katrina and Louie are a wonderful couple with easy going personalities and quirky sense of humor. They are loved and adored by their family and friends.

Amanda + Dave: Woodbury Wedding Photographer

Nice people create for a great day of photography!

I was super excited for Amanda and Dave’s wedding. I photographed Dave’s sister’s wedding two years ago. I clearly remembered the ceremony and toasts at her reception and how incredibly nice everyone was. Amanda’s family are equally as welcoming. I had such a fun time documenting two wonderful families coming together to celebrate Amanda and Dave’s perfect day!

Kate + Luke: St. Joseph Wedding Photographer

Kate and Luke reserved me almost two years ago to document their wedding. Over that time, a number of wedding details evolved and changed. One thing remained consistent. Kate and Luke are an incredible couple. It is obvious they embrace life and truly value the people around them. Whether you are an old friend or complete stranger, Kate and Luke are the same wonderful, welcoming people.

Kate sent me a nice message immediately after the wedding thanking me for working around the “chaos of the day.” I didn’t find Kate and Luke’s day overly chaotic. We had a bit of unpredictable weather to say the least – sun, puffy clouds, hail, pouring rain, tornado warnings and the works. Kate and Luke planned a wonderful celebration!

Weddings are filled with traditions. While many of those traditions are important, the best part of what I do is capturing a day in the life of an expanding family. A wedding is a unique day. It is filled with a roller coaster of emotions. Loved ones gather to celebrate relationships. Beautiful stories unfold. My hope is those memories grow stronger over time.

I am positive Kate and Luke’s will!
